Marvel star Chris Hemsworth clarifies reports that he is retiring from acting.
THE Thor The actor revealed last year that he discovered he was at higher risk of contracting Alzheimer’s while filming an episode of his series Unlimited where he underwent genetic testing.
Hemsworth was quoted at the time as saying he was going to “take a little while” because he had “not appreciated what was right in front of” him.
As he returns for the Netflix premiere Extraction 2Hemsworth explained to Weekly entertainment that two key moments in his life had been inadvertently confused in the press.
“It was interesting, because those two titles coupled, that I was taking time off because of the genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease,” he said.
The actor went on to say, “This experience and this show [Limitless] made me say, ‘Oh wow, none of us are invincible.’ It kind of smacks you in the moment. You start asking bigger questions and you think, “I need to slow down and live in this moment now and not let the years pass.”
“It was positive in that sense, but it’s been kind of dramatized, like I’m potentially retiring because of it. Which just isn’t the case.”
While he was filming UnlimitedHemsworth learned he was at increased risk of being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease because he had two copies of the APOE4 gene.
Hemsworth’s candid comments extended to his retrospective review of Thor: Love and Thunderwhere he finally understood some of the backlash he suffered.
“I think we had too much fun. It got too silly,” Hemsworth said recently. QG.
“It’s always hard to be in the middle of it all and have a real perspective…I love the process, it’s always a ride. But you just don’t know how people are going to react.”
