Emmerdale referenced iconic villain Meena Jutla as part of the ongoing Anderson family feud.
Earlier this week, Naomi stunned her father Charles by announcing that she intended to get to know her grandfather Victor despite his objections.
Charles had insisted his family stay away from Victor, as his father had been imprisoned for nearly beating a security guard to death during an armed robbery.
In Wednesday’s episode (June 14), Manpreet Sharma was the last to have the idea of Naomi getting to know her grandfather – much to Charles’ anger.
“If you don’t want the battle, maybe you should do this [Naomi is] do and give him the benefit of the doubt,” Manpreet suggested.
Charles was flabbergasted that Manpreet would even make such a suggestion after what she went through with her manipulative sister Meena last year.
“Do you know what happens when you open the door to a monster? That’s what you did with Meena,” the vicar replied.
Manpreet dismissed the comparison, telling Charles that the situation with his father “has nothing to do with Meena.”
Fans will recall that Meena was sentenced to prison for the rest of her natural life last year, after eventually being arrested for the murders of Leanna, Andrea and Ben.
Manpreet finally stormed out after Charles claimed he ‘came back to bite her’ when she showed the slightest bit of trust in her sister – and other people in the village lost their lives.
Charles ran after Manpreet to apologize, but his partner explained to him that he would only push Naomi away if he tried to keep her from seeing Victor.
“I get it. You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, but what you’re doing now, how’s it working for you?” she asked him.
Viewers last saw Meena moaning desperately to the judge that her sentencing could not go forward as her sister Manpreet refused to appear. Nevertheless, the judge proceeded and Manpreet was sentenced in front of a nearly empty courtroom.
Although former cast member Paige Sandhu is not expected to return just yet, she recently lined up a new film role in Lionessabout the suffragette movement.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and airs on ITVX.
