Harry Kane expressed his gratitude to his England team-mates and manager Gareth Southgate for helping him become the country’s all-time leading goalscorer by giving them all special gifts during a presentation at St George’s Park on Wednesday .
The Tottenham forward equalized Wayne Rooney’s record 53 goals at last year’s World Cup by scoring twice in the tournament against Senegal and France.
He then got rid of the former Manchester United player in March when he netted a penalty to seal a 2-1 win over Italy in Napoli, and he aimed again three days later in a a 2-0 win over Ukraine to take his tally 55 goals in 82 caps.
The England squad reunited for the first time since those games to take on Malta and North Macedonia in their final Euro 2024 qualifiers, and Kane decided to thank his teammates for their part in making it happen. .
One by one England players posed alongside Kane with a commemorative plaque to mark his record, with each player receiving one from their captain to take home.

The center of the plaque lists the dates and teams against which Kane scored to reach the record
There was also a photo of Kane and his teammates as well as a personal message of appreciation on each plaque.
Southgate, who gave Kane the armband in 2017, also took a photo with Kane and received a plaque.
The plaque was shaped like a vinyl record, but had a crack to mark his record achievement.
The center piece listed the dates and teams he scored against to reach the magic 54-goal mark, while the bottom left corner had a photo of Kane alongside each team-mate. Along with that was a message of appreciation for helping him achieve his record.
The entire England squad attended the presentation, including Manchester City’s five-man contingent, with Jack Grealish, John Stones, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips all having joined the squad earlier today after ending their triple celebrations.
The team then sat down together to take a photo with their personal plaques as a group.

Wednesday’s presentation led by Kane highlights the close-knit nature of the team that has become a feature of their success under Southgate.
Since resuming in 2016, England reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018, the final of the European Championship three years later and then the last eight of the World Cup in Qatar at the end of Last year.
The Three Lions are now gearing up for their next tilt to tournament glory at Euro 2024, and are back in action tomorrow when they take on Malta before hosting North Macedonia next Monday.
Kane is likely to lead his side in both matches and will be keen to extend his record over the next few days as he looks to set a mark that will be very hard to beat.
