Australian boxing superstar Tim Tszyu went fishing just 90 minutes after sensationally defending his interim WBO super welterweight title against Mexican Carlos Ocampo.

Tszyu needed just 77 seconds to seal the win after knocking Ocampo down with a big right hand, before icing him with a devastating lead hook that left the challenger lying on the canvas.

The first-round victory was a chilling warning to undisputed world champion Jermell Charlo, whom he will fight for the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF belts.

Surprisingly, Tszyu didn’t start partying straight after the fight and instead posted a photo on social media as he went fishing off a Gold Coast pier later that afternoon.

Later that night, the interim champ finally let loose at a party at The Star hosted by promoters No Limit, where he celebrated with fans, family and friends.

Tszyu’s manager, Glen Jennings, revealed the champion had fished for the week leading up to the fight.

“The place we rented in Broadbeach Waters had a jetty out back and quite often throughout the week we put a line in,” he told foxsports.com.au

“We kept three fishing rods there and also caught a few fish.

“So after the fight it was still daylight so Tim went home for a quick shower and then a few went down to the pier to sit in the sun and throw the line.

‘Tim doesn’t care about a fish. It’s a good distraction from all the noise.

“He was pretty relaxed afterwards and it was great for him to sit in the sun with his friends thinking.”

Jennings also revealed that Tszyu is already preparing for a showdown with Charlo for his four belts in mid-October – and will start his camp in August in Las Vegas.

Team Tszyu is currently evaluating which gyms and training partners they can rely on for the title fight.

“We have to be very careful about where we train, who can attend and how much information is released,” Jennings said.

“We won’t divulge much.

“These are the highest stakes and it’s a sad reality of boxing at the highest level that you have to take those precautions.

“But any advantage the other crowd can get, they would take it.

“So we will be very careful and the gym partners and the training partners, who we are already talking to there, understand that.

“Those who have a role will be in the gym and anyone who doesn’t will not be welcome.”

Jennings said they would spend between $200,000 and $300,000 for the eight-week fight camp.

“Obviously, nothing comes cheap in America, and we have a coach, a chef, our team, and all the catch-up people who work on Tim and are located there in the United States.”

“And then the sparring partners at this level, they are well paid, as they should be.”

“But even then, I don’t want to discuss exactly who we’ll be using, otherwise there are opportunities for people to…well, let’s just say do the wrong thing.

“But the sparring partners will be very high level, and multiple sparring partners to keep Tim guessing and on his toes.
