Man City in talks with West Ham over Lucas Paqueta with champions ready to pay £60m for Brazilian midfielder | Soccer News

Manchester City and West Ham have held talks over the potential transfer of Lucas Paqueta, who is keen to move to the Premier League champions.

Two sources said Sky Sports News that Premier League champions City are willing to pay £60m for the midfielder.

However, there has been no official offer from City for the player yet.

Paqueta still has four years left on his contract with West Ham. The Europa Conference League winners signed him from Lyon for £51million last August, but the player is said to be ready to leave if City make a bid.

West Ham don’t want to sell Paqueta this summer even though the price is right. They feel they wouldn’t have enough time to sign a Premier League replacement from this weekend.

Paqueta has an £85million buyout clause in his contract, but it cannot be triggered until next summer.

However, the player would be very hard pressed to turn down a move to Manchester City as there was an opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola.

West Ham have already lost captain and midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal in the summer, with the England international moving on for £105m.

The Transfer Talk panel discuss whether West Ham’s style of play is a better fit for potential signing Harry Maguire.

Meanwhile, West Ham have an agreement in principle with Manchester United to sign the defender Harry Maguire in a deal worth around £30million.

Personal terms shouldn’t be a problem, but there is still work to be done on the details of his exit from United.

West Ham, however, are cautiously optimistic about completing the signing after having a £20million bid for the England international rejected last month.

Maguire trained with Man Utd on Wednesday morning ahead of their Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday night football.

West Ham are also set to sign the midfielder from Southampton James Ward-Prowse the transfer to be completed on Friday.

Take a look at all of James Ward-Prowse’s free-kicks for Southampton.

The deal is worth the £30million that was rejected last month, but with more favorable payment terms for Southampton.

Talks are ongoing over when the deal can be finalized as Saints are believed to want him to feature against Norwich this weekend.

West Ham don’t want it risked ahead of such a big move and source says Sky Sports News that Ward-Prowse is keen to make the move as soon as possible but would love the chance to say goodbye to Southampton fans.

Personal terms should not be a problem.

Meanwhile, there are question marks over the West Ham striker’s future Michael Antonio amid interest from Saudi Arabia.
