- He also explained his favorite position and the club he hates the most
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has named the toughest opponent of his career so far.
Rashford had his best scoring season at Old Trafford last term, scoring 30 goals to send United back to the Champions League.
But he admits it’s not always easy to get the better of opponents, with Man City full-back and England team-mate Kyle Walker proving his biggest challenge.
Speaking to Gary Neville in the “Quickfire Questions” section of The overlap, Rashford was asked about his toughest opponent and replied, “I would say probably Kyle Walker. His physical abilities are just amazing, so it’s always a tough day.
“You have to try to catch him off guard or in the wrong position, but even then he can recover.” I’m just trying to drift to places where he can’t drift and he has to pass me.

The Man United star also revealed why he prefers playing on the left wing rather than up front
Rashford and Walker have faced each other regularly in Manchester derbies over the years, with Rashford often playing on the left wing for United.
The 25-year-old was asked to play more centrally by Erik ten Hag at times last season, sparking a debate over his best position.
Rashford has revealed he still prefers playing away and explained why to Neville.
“Left winger,” Rashford said when asked where he wanted to play. “Although I feel like the centre-forward has less distance to cover to score single goals, I prefer the left.”
“On the left it’s easier to stay in the game, and since I was young I always wanted to be involved in the game. That’s why I sometimes find it difficult to play centre-forward because of my patience. You might not touch the ball for 20 minutes, then your first touch might be your chance to score. You have to be mentally turned on.
“I never enjoyed that aspect, but as I got older I started to enjoy playing up there a bit more.”
Rashford also played on the right for United, displaying his versatility as a striker. However, he admits it was the position he found the hardest to master.

Rashford admitted he doesn’t like Liverpool more than Manchester City when discussing United’s biggest rivals
“The angles of the runs you make behind…most of my game is running behind and trying to stretch the defenses and give space to some of the other players, and sometimes I feel like I’m running too far inside and then running back to get the ball back. Whereas on the left it’s more natural, it’s more normal,” he added.
United ended their six-year trophy drought in February by lifting the Carabao Cup, but they have had to watch Manchester City and Liverpool dominate domestic football in recent years, while both clubs have also won the Champions League.
City and Liverpool are considered United’s biggest rivals, but when it came to picking the one he disliked the most, it was an easy choice for Rashford.
“Liverpool,” he said without hesitation. “I don’t like any of them but I don’t like Liverpool anymore.”
