Britain’s Neal Skupski won the Wimbledon men’s doubles title with Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof, becoming the first person to win the men’s and mixed doubles title at SW19 in 97 years.
Little-known 33-year-old Liverpudlian was smiling on the pitch after beating Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Argentinian Horacio Zeballos 6-4, 6-4 this afternoon.
The tennis player had already won the mixed doubles at the Grand Slam tournament in 2021 and 2022.
It means today’s triumph makes Skupski the first British player to win a treble of Wimbledon titles since Dorthy Round in 1937 won women’s singles after winning mixed doubles the previous two years.
The victory tied Skupski with tennis great Fred Perry, as no Briton has won a consecutive title since Perry won his third men’s singles in a row in 1936, and also means he is the first person to have won the men’s and mixed doubles title since Leslie Goodfree in 1926.

Skupski (pictured with Koolhof today) has previously won the mixed doubles Grand Slam tournament in 2021 and 2022
After his conquest, a smiling Skupski told the crowd: “Growing up watching this incredible championship on television, starting a young boy at Palmerston Tennis Club in Liverpool, going out as a little boy with my dad and growing up with my brother, who had a big influence on my career.
‘That feeling right now is not getting any better. Me and Wesley got together 18 months ago and this year it was one of our goals to win a Grand Slam and now we’ve done it, it’s very special.
After winning the final point – which didn’t disappoint the roaring crowd – the pair fell to the ground in celebration.
The last Briton to win the men’s doubles title was Jonathan Marray who won the title with Danish partner Frederick Nielsen 11 years ago.
Skupski grew up in Childwall in Merseyside and started playing tennis at the Palmerston Tennis Club in Allerton, which his childhood home backed onto.
He was inspired by his older brother Ken Skupski who also had a successful career, often playing alongside his brother in tournaments before retiring in 2022. Ken now coaches his famous Wimbledon brother.
Supreme tennis has caught the eye of his fellow players over the years, with Andy Murray admitting last month that Skupski is one of his biggest rivals – but not in the sport on which they both made their names.
Instead, Murray insisted that Skupski was his nemesis in their Fantasy Premier League. The Scottish player said: “His knowledge is not very high level, but he spends hours on the apps and the website.”

Skupski has been engaged to longtime girlfriend Cambri Prevost for almost seven years

Not much is known about Ms. Prevost, but on her Instagram account she describes herself as a registered nurse.

Ahead of today’s match, the 33-year-old said winning the game would be the ‘highlight’ of his career so far.
This afternoon Skupski did not have his brother and coach Ken in his dressing room as he set off on a family holiday to Ibiza on Friday, but he provided tactical analysis via video.
Pre-armed with these tactics, they made their first set, breaking Granollers’ serve when the Spaniard sweetly sent a double fault on the verge of break.
Skupski consolidated the break with an impressive service game and, after missing a set point on Zeballos’ serve in the following match, it was left to Koolhof to serve well and win the set 6-4.
They continued to dominate and especially took the serve of Zeballos to lead 3-2 after a particularly impressive second leg.
